Bin Laden was born on March 10, 1957, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. While he spent much of his life in inhospitable and unpleasant places, bin Laden enjoyed a privileged childhood. He owed this to his father, Mohammed Awad bin Laden, who founded the Saudi Binladin Group.
