Felix grew up in Gothenburg, Sweden. He was interested in art during his childhood. He is the son of Ulf Christian Kjellberg and Lotta Kristine Johanna, and he has a sister named Fanny Kjellberg. He was appointed Chief Information Officer by his mother in 2010.

As early as high school, he developed a passion for video games and missed classes on several occasions to play with his friends. In 2008, she graduated from Göteborgs Högre Samskola.

The YouTuber enrolled at Chalmers University of Technology in 2010 to study Industrial Economics and Technology Management. After losing access to his previous account, he set up a second YouTube account under the name “PewDiePie” in April of the same year.

His pseudonym is made up of “Pew”  for the sound made by lasers, and “Die” for death. Later, he would add “Foot”. He dropped out of university the following year, resulting in his parents withdrawing his financial support. As a result, he was forced to sell Photoshop art and run a mobile hot dog stand at his own expense.

While playing video games, he began creating gameplay videos for YouTube, including “Amnesia: The Dark Descent”. Similarly, he began uploading his famous weekly vlog “Fridays with PewDiePie” on September 2, 2011.

His videos ranged from action to comedy as his channel grew. There were over 60,000 subscribers in December of that year. He reached 1 million subscribers in July 2012, and 2 million subscribers two months later. In December of that year, PewDiePie signed with Maker Studios as a result of that quick reach.

A Swedish Social Star award was presented to the YouTuber in May 2013 at the Starcount Social Star Awards. In July, he became the second most subscribed YouTube user with an incredible promotion.

He held the most subscribers between August 15, 2013 and November and December of that year before being surpassed by the Spotlight channel. From 3.5 million followers to nearly 19 million followers in just one year.

From March 2014 onwards, the influencer announced he would decrease the number of videos. A PewDiePie app was released by Maker Studios in August of the same year. Users could view their videos, customize the list, and share them with others using this app.

The channel became the first on the platform to reach 10 billion views in 2015. The famous influencer had more than 50 million subscribers by 2016, and his videos had been viewed over 12 billion times by June of the same year.

According to Time magazine, he is one of the world’s 100 most influential people. In the same year, he launched his YouTube Red series “Scare PewDiePie”.

There have been numerous media outlets, journalists, and prominent television personalities who have criticized PewDiePie and his content, categorizing it as “grotesque” and “nonsense,” among other negative terms.

Nevertheless, other media claim that he has managed his audience well, and that it is growing every day. Félix has stated on several occasions, however, that he does not like being classified as famous or an influencer, since his intentions are the opposite.

Despite this, his opinions on something cannot escape the acclaim and following he commands within a community of followers and admirers. He was featured on the cover of Variety’s Famechangers issue in 2015, identifying himself as “#1 Famechanger”.

PewDiePie has influenced the sale of many independent games by making his gameplays while testing them. Video games such as “Slender: The Eight Pages” and “Goat Simulator” were also influenced by him.

In his short career as a YouTuber and influencer, Kjellberg has achieved great success. According to Forbes magazine, he earned 12 million dollars in 2015, making him one of the richest YouTube stars.

Aside from that, he has been involved in other projects such as “Epic Rap Battles of History”, starring Mikhail Barshnikov; he also served as a guest judge on “Internet Icon”, along with Anthony Padilla, Ian Hecox, and Jenna Marbles, as well as several YouTube Rewinds.

Aside from “Sommar i P1”, he hosted an episode of the 18th season of “South Park” and guest starred in several episodes. On “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” he also appeared.
