A few days later, David plays with Atlético at Vicente Calderón (the name of the stadium at that time), and saves a penalty from Babic of Real Zaragoza to leave with a cheer from his own fans.

The first official title de Gea won with Atlético de Madrid came on May 12, 2010. After defeating Fulham 2-0 in the final, the colchoneros took home the UEFA Europa League. After losing the Copa del Rey final against Sevilla FC (0-2) a week later, Atlético won the Europa League.
