The biography of Donatella Versace

Donatella wanted to follow in the footsteps of her older brother, Gianni, who created the empire we know today as Versace in the 1970s. While studying languages in her native Italy, she began making her first designs to establish her name.

In the city of Milan, the piccola Donatella lived with her brother in a small room. She began to collaborate with Versace’s creative and conceptual process there. Her role, however, was less that of a business partner than that of a muse for Gianni.

An unscrupulous Andrew Cunanan waited for Gianni to go out buying some magazines near his Miami Beach mansion, but instead shot him twice: in the neck and in the forehead. Donatella Versace did not know what to think of Versace as it was on the brink of success. She had to arm herself with courage and assume the main role within it since her brother would not have allowed me to sell it.

In Gianni’s will, the youngest of the family was not the main shareholder; instead, her children and Antonio D’Amico, the designer’s sentimental partner, were the biggest beneficiaries.

She raised her brother’s company to become a favorite of Hollywood stars with her ingenuity and talent. There was no way Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, or Demi Moore could resist purchasing one of her dresses.

As the company recovered from a major economic crisis in the early 2000s, the designer joined her other brother, Santo Versace, in building the company’s foundations.

It was known that Gianni Versace and Donatella Versace did not get along well, as Donatella Versace had two children with the American model Paul Beck, who became the majority heirs to the Gianni Versace fortune.

As a result of depression, she began to experiment with drugs, which were initially used as an escape from pain, but gradually became her worst nightmare.
