Starting off on the wrong foot

North Hollywood, California (United States) is where he was born. In addition to Marcus Robbins, he also has a sister named Tara Robbins. By the time Tony Robbins was a teenager, his parents had separated; he lived with his brothers and his mother, who was a drug addict and alcoholic. His vices did not make life any easier for our character, either, because his bad habits constantly caused him problems at home, even going so far as to threaten his life with a knife. An infant.

To help his family financially, our main character would begin working at a very young age for a maintenance company. At the age of 17, our protagonist lost a legal battle with his mother, which caused him to leave his house through the front door, never to return.

In this time of difficulty, our entrepreneur found himself working as a janitor with no inkling that he could change the course of his life, until a friend told him about a famous speaker at the time: Jim Rohn.

Tony’s friend assured him by then that the speaker could offer in a few hours of seminar knowledge that would take years of experience to acquire; he was eager to confirm the information, so he attended one of his seminars, and his life would never be the same again.

He approached Jim Rohn after the seminar in order to continue learning from the great speaker, and because Jim Rohn saw something in our entrepreneur’s eyes, he ended up working for him. This was his first mentor, and he would be the one who would help him realize his professional goals.

Tony’s life begins to take a 180 degree turn at this moment. As he begins selling Jim Rohn’s seminars, he learns all his strategies and principles for excellence and success. After a while, after developing a solid knowledge base, he decided it was time to start selling his own seminars.

His little seminars were recorded and he travelled all over the United States with his van. Initially, he did them for free, because he wanted to establish himself and start to resonate with people.

As time went on, he began charging his audience only if his sessions had resulted in changes in their lives. In that moment, success began knocking on Tony’s door, enabling him to build a personal brand that slowly gained traction and scale. Our entrepreneur had a clear vision for his life, and he was working hard to achieve it. 

With Tony’s experience gained during his travels, he produced his first book, which would be a resounding success and open many doors for him; making him a very well-known American figure. People’s lives were starting to change thanks to our protagonist. 

During the 1980s and 1990s, Anthony Robbins’ name would begin to resonate on audiotapes, television and conferences, reaching more than 100 million people worldwide, not just in the United States. A partner took all the money from his business during the creation of his empire, leaving him deeply in debt and with many problems to solve. However, our entrepreneur improved and reformulated his ventures despite the difficulties he faced.

Tony Robbins has founded and invested in more than a dozen companies, ranging from those that develop virtual reality technology to foundations dedicated to eradicating hunger worldwide.
